I am a Christian Science practitioner and teacher — a lifelong Christian Scientist.
In 1972, I began performing with musical bands in Austin, Texas. For the next ten years, I toured throughout the United States and Europe. During those years, I began spending less time practicing the guitar and writing songs. I was spending more time reading the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s writings, finding this more rewarding. I learned to heal myself and began to heal others. I found that Soul, God, inspired both my songs and prayerful treatments.
In 1980, I took Christian Science class instruction in Switzerland. Two years later, I left my band to enter the full-time practice of Christian Science, becoming Journal-listed in 1983.
After marrying my wife, Joanne, in 1992, I moved to Houston, where she lived with her two young sons. Becoming an instant dad taught me the selflessness of Soul.
In 1994, we moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where among other things, I coached Little League baseball and served as an assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts; but the biggest blessing was the opportunity to attend the Normal class, thereby becoming a teacher of Christian Science. For years, I had been learning how prayer healed the body and how God’s dominion casts out fear and evil, and now I was prepared to teach others.
I have served on the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, facilitated Christian Science practitioner workshops in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, served as the President of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and as the Christian Science Committee on Publication for Texas. At present, I am a member of The Christian Science Board of Directors in Boston, Massachusetts. I have had over thirty articles published in the Christian Science periodicals.
